USS CARL VINSON STRIKE GROUP DEPARTS SINGAPORE FOR WESTERN PACIFIC

USS CARL VINSON, At Sea – Adm. Harry Harris, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, has directed the Carl Vinson Strike Group to sail north to report on station in the Western Pacific Ocean after departing Singapore April, 8. The 3200 Man, Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, two Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer and USS Michael Murphy. A Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain. The Strike Group was headed to Australia after leaving Singapore, now re-routed to the Western Pacific, off North Korea, as part of the Third Fleet Forward initiative.
